Description

Blackstock’s series of butterflies, exemplify the growth and changes made in her own life as well as a representation of the changes others make when they challenge themselves to align their lives with their dreams and abandon their fear.
In this unique series, her focus is on colour and composition. Blackstock paints a cropped portion of the wing with layer upon layer of paint creating a depth of colour on an otherwise flat subject. Brushstrokes and gravity play an important role in creating movement. Once the paintings are complete, she applies several thin layers of polymer emulsion enhancing the depth and lustre of each piece.
